The new training lights had their first outing when RFU Coach, Chris Hurd, made a return to the Wyvern to provide a change to the regular coaching session.

Having spent the whole of last winter training at the Indoor Riding Stables at the Conquest Centre, there had been a keen interest to get back to training on grass. Having come to arrangement with Bishop Fox's School to use their playing field in addition to the Wyvern pitch, it was a matter of getting something suitable for the purpose.

The committee considered a number of options, but viewed the portable lights as the most cost effective, easy to use and easy to store option for the Wyvern.

Fundraising has been intense over the summer with 8 new sponsors for the Club. While this was not enough to purchase the lights outright, it was enough that with the help of the main Wyvern Sports and Social Club, it was possible to get the lights for use this winter.

The lights were very effective in lighting 1/3 of the pitch, which is an ideal area for training to take place.

It is hoped that by returning to the Wyvern, with training on grass, more players will be encouraged to join in on Wednesday evenings at 7.00pm.
